Switch Hit Duo/Trio/Quartet
A special service we offer is using our jazz musicians to play classical music during your wedding ceremony and then switch over to jazz for your reception / cocktails. It adds stylistic variety at a lower price than having two different groups. During the ceremony, I play flute, accompanied by piano or guitar – this is our duo. Adding double bass (upright bass) makes us a trio. We actually have a very large selection of classical music we can play. If you want to include a jazz or pop song(s) mixed in with other classical pieces, the switch hit duo, trio and quartet will handle this with ease. During the reception I switch to saxophone, and the group switches to jazz music. It becomes a quartet if you wish to add a drummer during the reception (recommended for large receptions or if you want dancing). A digital piano can be supplied if no piano exists at the venue, and it’s no extra charge. The overall price is the same as the regular trio & quartet prices (jazz OR classical only). Availability for this service is more limited as it is based on the availability of certain musicians. You can hear examples of the switch hit duo/trio/quartet playing wedding ceremony selections here.
If you want to have a pure classical ensemble during the ceremony and a pure jazz ensemble afterwards, we are happy to provide that too. This allows each group to do precisely what they specialize in. To move ahead with this option, just make two bookings on the site (get two quotes and make two event planning pages).
