Frequently Asked Questions

Who is in your ensembles?

Our ensembles are made up of the finest young professional musicians the GTA has to offer.  We are collectively graduates of some of the most outstanding music schools in North America.

What is the cost?

Click on “Quote” to get a custom quote for your event emailed to you instantly.  The cost varies depending on the number of musicians used, location, and the type of event.  That said, it is very reasonable.  We can actually end up being less expensive than many DJ’s!

Can I book online?

Yes, get a quote first, then click the link to visit your own personal Event Planning Page, where you can alter your quote and book the music for your event.

Can I hear you play?

Yes.  Click on “Ensembles”, then choose the ensemble you want to hear.  To hear a live performance, please contact us and we can go over our current playing schedule.  However, many of our performances are private or ticketed events.

How can I view your available repertoire?

Hover on “Ensembles”, then click on any of the ensembles.  You’ll see repertoire lists organized by title, composer, songs specifically for wedding ceremonies, and sample wedding playlists.  You can also search the whole site with the search box in the top right.

Do you travel?

Yes, all around the Golden Horseshoe, and beyond.  There is a mileage fee of $0.40 per km (return) outside of Toronto.  A 2 hour minimum is required for locations > 75km’s from Toronto.  For locations > 120kms from Toronto we generally drop the mileage fee and negotiate a price which represents the extra time commitment involved for each musician.

Can I meet with you in person?

Yes, we often see potential clients for an introductory meeting or planning session.  There is no charge.  Contact us to arrange a time.

Can you provide references?

Yes, we’d be happy to put you in touch with some of our clients.  Also, please check out our “Testimonials” which we update regularly.

Can I make requests?

Our collective repertoire is pretty extensive, and is always growing.  If your request is not in our repertoire yet, we may be able to fulfill it depending on availability of sheet music.  We can also facilitate getting custom arrangements done for most any ensemble by putting you in touch with one or more professional arrangers.  We are also happy to suggest selections that are popular with clients as well as the musicians who will be playing.

Will there be a contract?

We now have a “Click to agree” agreement similar to booking plane tickets and many other online transactions.  Paper contracts and corporate invoices are available by special request.

Is a deposit required?

Yes, we require a 50% deposit to validate the contract.  However, if you are a business holding an event we can be flexible to work with your invoicing and payroll schedule.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cheques, cash, credit card (VISA and Mastercard), and Interac e-transfers.

What is your refund policy?

Deposit payments are refundable within 48 hours of booking.  Balance payments are not due until the event, but if it has been paid early it is refundable when the booking is canceled more than one week before the event.

Do you ever use sequenced instruments / play-along tracks?

What do the musicians wear?

Typically tuxes/dresses/blacks for classical ensembles and suits for jazz ensembles.  If you have a theme or special request, let us know – we can often accommodate this too.

When do the musicians arrive?

The musicians arrive 30 minutes prior to their start time.

What do I need to provide for the musicians?

Armless chairs for the classical ensembles, and a regular electrical plug in for the jazz ensembles.  We’ll bring everything else.

Can the musicians perform outside?

Yes, provided the weather is between 15-30C with no precipitation.  Our instruments cannot function properly (and can even be damaged) in the cold, rain, extreme wind or heat.  We recommend having shelter over the musicians for insurance and a backup indoor location.  Jazz ensembles also need to be close to an electrical plugin, but classical ensembles do not.

Can you recommend an ensemble for us?

Yes, we can help.  The factors to consider include the number of people at your event, size of venue, budget, and the mood you’d like to create.  An event with many people in a large venue requires a larger ensemble than an intimate gathering.  Our “Ensemble” pages contain many samples (as well as repertoire lists) to help guide you.   We are happy to help guide you to the right ensemble for your needs.
